a days fishing...

on the boat which runs out of minehead for info see here
anyway after an early start collection at 05:15 on the boat at 07:15 the day started well enough, after taking the anti sickness tablets (i don't travel too well) i felt relatively fine.
we started catching fish quickly and for the 1st time in a while the weather was kind, if you see me this week i will have sunburn or at least a little redness on the face.
the interesting fish was called a spurdog we caught over 130lb of these edible (makes a change) fish.
i caught a bull huss no photo - it was too shy ;)
the rain stayed away the sun shone and we moved on, caught a few conger with gareth catching the largest
the fishing was not as good so skipper Steve decided we need to move once again, problem was.. he ran over the bouy!
it popped under the boat with a loud ominous bang! trouble was we did not know it was the bouy that had made the noise and the rope that ends in the anchor also lodged solid under the boat :( so after some fishing with a little anchor to no avail, 'skip had to call in the cavalry and whilst we waited the rescue attempt. after an hours wait we were rescued by another boat from minehead - video later
a short bit of tug and the rope was free and pulled on board, we unhutched from the other boat waved goodbye as they sped off into the harbour as we trotted back safely and steadily.
the onlyh loss of like? a bouy and a few fish. an eventful day all in and then on the way back a heavy goods lorry had seemingly gone round a bend too quickly and was in danger of losing its load from the back of the low loader.
some photos of the day are on flickr i wll upload the short video later on.
