Photosynth a - real 3d panorama?
Microsoft are previewing a live labs product called Photosynth, it looks like a very advanced panorama sequencer and stitcher but it should be able to pull other peoples images from the web and use them amongst any other photo - yours or someone elses!
it looks very nice but i am unsure how it would work in the real world?
you could use it to create a virtual tour of a house but other software is out there for this already, you could stitch together whole journeys if you travelled the route often enough or you took enough photos along the way.
the killer part would have to be the ability to use other peoples images, imagine this thing crawling its way through flickr and being able to pull out the image of the houses of parliament or the white house or any other icon.
the 3d aspect would be kinda cool with you being able to use the data from everyones photos to move behind, to the side or above seamlessly.
so when it appears later this year take a look from your perspective!
