Glastonbury 2008 feat, Jay-Z but no metal pegs...
I listened to the reminders on the radio today about registration (from today until midnight GMT on the 14th March direct link) and wondered once again (i have been itching to speak to Fiona from that farm since the 14th January!) about my ticket. I work for the festival in the recycling team and Fiona looks after that team. So pretty much all day the radio was banging on about this and that with the festival and i buckled - i rang it went to BT's answering machine, hmmm that was new I never had that before, it was always Fiona's message. Scary. Stop panicking, idle thoughts rushing in and out of my brain - has she left? Was the number right? What do I do?
The sensible thing of course I ring back :) tada! there she is answering the phone and letting me know that my form has already been posted and will be there by tomorrow's post.
I finish work with a smile and return home to find it already there for me. Off to the post office for some more gorgeous passport photos, application form, £160 cheque enclosed and posted! The ticket will be £155 + £5 postage but it will be worth it.
Jay-Z is the first headliner confirmed already by Mr Eavis and the metal tent peg is to be left behind for the cows sake, the new ones are biodegradable and will just disappear into the soil when left behind (as too many were)
need a link for more information?
The BBC and Glastonbury Festivals have always had a good relationship here is the special Glastonbury Section online BBC/Glastonbury
Here is a intermittent Glastonbury Newsletter that is worth signing up for, Flash Bristow's site
The best (in my view) forum is here at virtualfestivals
Good luck to those in the hunt for the tickets

More Glastonbury Festival Tickets (competition)

Orange have come up with a new and offbeat way of keeping your attention for the next four weeks.
the competition asks you to guess the whereabouts of Derek (a bull) in a particular field, this is of course in keeping with Glastonbury which is on a working dairy farm in Pilton (near Glastonbury) you need to enter before 2pm gmt as the daily? draw is taken at 3pm gmt.
it of course is all based on webcams, gps and marketing. the site is a flash based affair with a four video clips about the the bull.
go on be lucky!

One more chance!
if you did not manage to get a ticket this morning for Glastonbury you might be luckier on Thursday when the (really) final tickets are sold, these will be the coach packages that ran out later last time around. You will only get your ticket to the festival when you have boarded the coach and you will not be able to take a car to the site. if you have got to go then this really is the last time unless you win one of the competition tickets or you are able to get in via the work route.
Still have to purchase via seetickets
thanks to efestivals

Glastonbury Festival tickets

On Sunday April 22nd at 9.00am there will be a sale of tickets which have
been returned, or where payments have been declined. Michael Eavis has decided
that these tickets will be sold through the telephone ticket sales line
only - 0870 165 2007 - (International Sales +44 115 993 4183 ), and not online.
These are the only telephone numbers that can be used to buy Glastonbury
tickets on April 22nd. You will not be able to purchase Glastonbury
tickets on any other See Tickets number
other ways of getting in are becoming more limited, http://www.yeovalleyorganic.com/glastonbury.html has 10 for a way into the festival - i tried and won a digital radio! i brought the yogurt last night texted the number with my code and got a text back immediately saying i had won the radio!
so i am mighty chuffed, i would have liked the tickets but i would have given them to some friends namely mr moose and ms ratcliffe
competitions

good luck

Update @ Glastonbury
Laura managed to get on the site with relative ease buying her own and Kerry's tickets.
I suppose having the resources of Cardiff University behind her connection may have helped.
However having sold all of the tickets within two hours with less people trying to get a ticket today than two years ago seems a little backward.
i tried using two seperate adsl lines, three different phone lines and still could not get the page until it was too late and the rest of the world had given up.

The downsides - trying to get a ticket :(
the lines have been open since 9am this morning without the number 0870 165 2007 even being posted on the website?
Well it may have been but the last page i was able to see was updated at 08:29 on the 1st April.
the website - seetickets.com/g2007 is also unavailable and has been since 9am this morning.
i found the telephone number via the bbc page and this was by accident.
it is like being the rugby ball in a scrum, all i want to do is get over that line but i have to get kicked around and around and around before i even get out of the scrum.
for international callers try 0115 993 4183
this is the most disheartened i have been i am trying to get tickets - one for Kerry and the other for Laura, neither have been before and i desperately want them both to go.

nokia and the warm feeling
the other thing it does is allow people to ring me! i can make calls and speak to people without having to remember the number.
simple eh! well i think its overlooked.
today it rang and it was Fiona at Glastonbury Festivals which always makes me smile. i knew it was her because the screen told me thank heaven for caller id. i answered and spoke to the lovely lady who let me know i was going to Glastonbury this year (working of course) this is on the condition that the cheque that i posted out reaches her in good time, i was in such a hurry to turn the application forma round i forgot to include the cheque so it involved another trip to the post box this was two weeks ago tomorrow. both the application and the cheque were sent on the same day.
so using the phone made me feel nice and warm....
thank you nokia and thank you Fiona! :)
